In older versions of Unscrambler there was no requirement of existing or unique headers, and relative indexes were used when mapping different matrices (e.g. for sample grouping). Due to feedback that this was too sensitive for user errors, unique headers was introduced in order to link observations by their row names directly.

Whenever replicate names are found, observations are renamed according to <original name>#<replicate number>. In order to maintain one or both parts for point labelling or similar, we recommend using the right-click function ‘Split Text Variable’ and separate by ‘#’. Then, new columns with original sample name and replicate numbers can be inserted into the main body of the matrix.
